Hali from Hechizo shot for B side collective

I loved popping by Hali’s studio in Scott’s Addition to learn more about her process and approach to creating jewelry for her beautiful line over at Hechizo. From her website:

“Combining ceramics, metals and textiles into items made to adorn, Hechizo pieces are the mementos of an exploration with materials and processes. Hali draws from many different global traditions of adornment and decor, playfully elevating somewhat less-precious materials by showcasing them in her designs. The daughter of a carpenter and granddaughter of two generations of tailors, Hali enjoys carrying on a tradition of handcrafting objects with care.”

I have my eye on one of her necklaces for my birthday later this spring! Anyway, her studio is full of light and plants and color and texture, and I had the best time photographing some of her pieces in-process. I could have shot there all morning! It was so inspiring to me, each piece designed by Hali, crafted by her own hands. How special is that!? Head over to her website to peek at some of her jewelry and to pick something out for yourself!

West Coast Provisions shot for Richmond Magazine

I loved this quick shoot at West Coast Provisions, shot for Richmond Magazine! The assignment included a few food shots, interiors, and a portrait of the head chefs. Such a beautiful space and how amazing does that food look!? I love editorial assignments and have really enjoyed working with local magazines here in Richmond. I can’t wait to share with you more of my recent editorial work…!

Rebelle Con Spring Pop Up at Gather Short Pump

I have loved photographing the various Rebelle Con events over the past year or so! Their spring pop up at Gather, Short Pump was really something special. Do you all know about Rebelle Con? It’s a community founded “to bring voices to the stage from women who are doing it differently, workshops that teach new ways approaching our challenges, and mentors who are walking their talk, learning and growing right alongside us.”

Guest speakers to the Rebelle Con spring popup included Lauren Hom, Brigitte Lyons, Janice Omadeke, and many more inspiring, successful, encouraging women entrepreneurs. The conference included workshops addressing topics like charging what you’re worth, how to pitch yourself to the media, and creating financial plans.

If you’re looking to be inspired and to get connected, check out the agenda for the spring 2019 conference here in Richmond. It is truly going to be awesome, I have no doubts about it!

Shirefolk Farm shot for Richmond DINE

I have really, really enjoyed my recent assignments for Richmond Magazine! I headed out of the city to photograph the beautiful family behind Shirefolk Farms for the recent fall issue of Richmond DINE. We met around sunrise, and the farm looked so lovely in the morning light—-a chill in the air and dew still on the grass. I loved seeing the farm and learning more about what they’re working on as they grow—chickens, turkeys, and lambs. Plus, look at all those eggs!

You can find Shirefolk on Saturdays at the St. Stephen’s and Manakin markets, and at On the Square Market on Fridays. Be sure to check out one of the markets and pick up some farm fresh, local eggs and poultry! Thanks Richmond Mag for the awesome feature!
